Bill started Freeman Photography in the early 80’s in Houston. His passion for photography was a hobby that grew and developed from the garage of his house where he taught himself to process color negatives and prints. Freeman began photographing volume sports and in 1989 he decided to turn the part time photography business in to a full time livelihood. Today his business focuses on undergraduate school, high school senior, family and business portraits and commercial events.
Since Bill was not formally educated in photography, he dedicated himself to learning the industry through books, classes and seminars. Since many organizations such as PSPA, PSPI, PMA, PPA and DIMA played such a strong role in the development of his career he has remained active in them as a leader in the industry.
Bill served as President of PSPA (Professional School Photographers Association) and as Chair of the Speaker Selection Sub-Committee for School, Sports & Events with PPA. Bill was one of the original Coaches at Imaging USA mentoring photographers in the volume market. He sat on the Digital Guidelines Committee for many years and served as the Technical Advisor for PSPI (Professional School & Sports Photographers International).
Bill has served on the Professional Advisory Council for the Art Institute of Houston. In 2017 Freeman Photography was recognized as a Top 100 Studio for North America. He is a Certified Professional Photographer, Master Photographer and Craftsman, member of ASP (American Society of Photographers). In 2014 he received the Volume Photography Leadership Award from the International Photographic Council at the United Nations.
